"KAREN VALENTINES BLOG PARTY" ROOM #1 SCRAPBOOKING, ALTERED ART and PAPER FILIGREE CREATIONS

This is my 1/2 Room for  Scrapbooking & Paper Filigree  which is also my Bedroom. In this room I have added my Moms Singer Featherweight Sewing machine from the late 40's or early 50's which sits on a wooden card table, the legs also fold under for easy storage if I ever need to downsize or move it,  this was purchased in Walmart.  Mom gave me her  Singer Featherweight and I made my first maternity smock on it at the age of 20 years old. I'm now 68 years young and still using this machine. The machine still does a great job and in the summer the Sewing Room #1 gets too hot to sew in as it has no air  or windows just a door adjacent to the family room. The wall unit was a put it together yourself piece from Big Lots under $100 and I was blessed to have a wonderful neighbor haul it home for me and her Dad and my son assembled it. This unit holds my computer and just about everything else that I can neatly work into it. I keep most of my ribbon tidy by winding it around wooden clothes pins purchased in Walmart and then stored in apothecary jars. I pick up jars from yard sales and thrift stores to store just about everything I need close at hand. My German glass glitter is stored in revolving spice racks purchased in Target. Under the beautiful crocheted lace tablecloth are stackable plastic storage bins that can be removed individually and they hold plenty of this and that including 12 by 12 scrapbooking paper, these are actually standing on a 5 foot oak aquarium stand that I found at the Goodwill for $19.95.  If you look in the pic's of Room #2 the windows are my version of windows, glass window frames with old quilts attached to the back! I forgot to mention the last pic in Room #2 are 3 great hats on a hat stand above my sewing center. They were Moms from the early 1930's. What a wonderful treasure to have and display. I have my first attempt of sewing at around age 8 years of age that is in a yellow frame and is a cross stitching that reads "God Bless Our Home" Mom was a saver also and gave it to me in my early adulthood. I have also posted my WIP's that will be finished and can be viewed on "Heartful Creations" later this weekend. Now don't forget to scroll down and visit  Room #2 and thanks for visiting! XOXO

Now don't forget to scroll down and visit the Sewing Room and enjoy your visit, thanks for stopping by!

What a great amount of pretty treasures you have there! I love putting things in glass jars too, yours are so colorful! I love your idea of putting the dollhouse on a lazysusan, mine isn't on anything and I just carefully turn it out to get something, I will now be on the hunt for a lazysusan! Thanks for stopping by, Theresa

You have two great creative room spaces there! Both look very Victorian and I know you truly enjoy being in there creating. One thing in particular that caught my eye was the set of old sewing machine drawers. I absolutely adore them. I have one drawer and now I hope to put it to use in my room! Thanks for the inspiration! And thanks for stopping by my place. Have fun at the rest of the party!
Blessings,
Tricia

Hi Marilou,

What an interesting space. I think the neatest surprise is the window in the first room. I don't know - do you call that a skylight? eaves window? Anyway, I don't think I've seen one like it before. You certainly have lots of things with memories and I admire anyone who takes up learning something new! Thanks for sharing your space!

Your space is wonderful. I am a big fan of Featherweights - they are so solid, have such a nice, straight stitch and are dependable! Not to mention, beautiful. How nice that you have one that comes from family.

Hi Marilou,
So wonderful to meet you and visit your creative space. What a wonderful studio you have with inspiration at every turn. All your supplies are so organized. I love that and try to keep mine this way, but it gets very messy at times.
I love your singer. What a wonderful and dependable machine. I have my grandma's but do not use it any longer. I finally retired it to a display area of our home. The cabinet still looks new.

Thank you so very much for stopping by to visit my space today and your kind words. I am so glad you found me so I could come visit you. I so enjoyed my visit.
Thank you for sharing.
Blessings,
Celestina Marie

Singer does make a great machine!!! I have the one my Mom used to sew my clothes on when I was a baby! I *should* retire it but I love it so much and we have a good relationship (it has never broken on me in the midst of a project and I in turn get it cleaned and oiled regularly).

Thanks so much for sharing your creative spaces!
