TIPS for TUESDAY

Cleaning liquid doubles as a bug killer.... If menacing bees, wasps, hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't get them out, rather than using an insecticide try a spray of Formula 409. Insects drop to ground instantly! They don't bother me outside as they are a part of nature, however in the house I don't care for them, give it a try! Works great!

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY SATURDAY", POSTING for HEARTFUL CREATIONS DELAYED UNTIL JUNE 27th

New posting tomorrow,  Sunday, June 27th. Todays creation wasn't  posted due to a surprise party to celebrate a family members Birthday a day early. We all had a great time with a BBQ given by  his old friends and their families. The Birthday guy is the one who keeps me going and gives me purpose in my life, my "Special Son' in the Lakers shirt. He is blessed with wonderful friends that always seem to touch and amaze me. What a Blessings for those friends who stay in our lives, as many pass through and just a few remain forever and always in our hearts.

"KAREN VALENTINES BLOG PARTY" ROOM #1 SCRAPBOOKING, ALTERED ART and PAPER FILIGREE CREATIONS

This is my 1/2 Room for  Scrapbooking & Paper Filigree  which is also my Bedroom. In this room I have added my Moms Singer Featherweight Sewing machine from the late 40's or early 50's which sits on a wooden card table, the legs also fold under for easy storage if I ever need to downsize or move it,  this was purchased in Walmart.  Mom gave me her  Singer Featherweight and I made my first maternity smock on it at the age of 20 years old. I'm now 68 years young and still using this machine. The machine still does a great job and in the summer the Sewing Room #1 gets too hot to sew in as it has no air  or windows just a door adjacent to the family room. The wall unit was a put it together yourself piece from Big Lots under $100 and I was blessed to have a wonderful neighbor haul it home for me and her Dad and my son assembled it. This unit holds my computer and just about everything else that I can neatly work into it. I keep most of my ribbon tidy by winding it around wooden clothes pins purchased in Walmart and then stored in apothecary jars. I pick up jars from yard sales and thrift stores to store just about everything I need close at hand. My German glass glitter is stored in revolving spice racks purchased in Target. Under the beautiful crocheted lace tablecloth are stackable plastic storage bins that can be removed individually and they hold plenty of this and that including 12 by 12 scrapbooking paper, these are actually standing on a 5 foot oak aquarium stand that I found at the Goodwill for $19.95.  If you look in the pic's of Room #2 the windows are my version of windows, glass window frames with old quilts attached to the back! I forgot to mention the last pic in Room #2 are 3 great hats on a hat stand above my sewing center. They were Moms from the early 1930's. What a wonderful treasure to have and display. I have my first attempt of sewing at around age 8 years of age that is in a yellow frame and is a cross stitching that reads "God Bless Our Home" Mom was a saver also and gave it to me in my early adulthood. I have also posted my WIP's that will be finished and can be viewed on "Heartful Creations" later this weekend. Now don't forget to scroll down and visit  Room #2 and thanks for visiting! XOXO

Now don't forget to scroll down and visit the Sewing Room and enjoy your visit, thanks for stopping by!

FUN FRIDAYS "KAREN VALENTINES BLOG PARTY" SEWING ROOM #2

Welcome and Enjoy! This is my Sewing Room which is 1/2 Garage converted into a room just for me years ago by my dear husband that never had a chance to actually see it materialize. By the time he had finished the basic conversion following the project came our youngest blessing, a son and as we were limited on space since there were 3 children before him, the room was then turned into a bedroom for our 2 oldest boys.
Here it is 33 years later and I'm finally getting it to look exactly the way I had hoped! When the children grew up and I had retired I then white washed the old dark paneling, installed a ceiling fan and track lighting, electrical outlets and a carpet remnant. This room has had plenty of makeovers and this is the final one! I keep fabrics stored in the glass curio which my oldest son gave me years ago and the rest of my fabrics and laces are stored in various chests of drawers and the 2 trunks that I have had for years and baskets. In one area I have my sewing machine and on another craft table with a quilt on top of it is my newest toy, a needle felting machine which I'm planning on perfecting the art of! I have all my threads on thread spool racks which I found in the sale shelf of JoAnns Fabrics one day for next to nothing as they were missing a few pegs. Lucky me! On the back of the door I hung a shoe storage bag for more "this & that" as in Fat quarters and such. I have been a collector of old Sewing items for years and everything is now out and on display. My cute Sewing machine lamp above my sewing machine needed a shade so I found a plain fabric one at Target for about $5.00 and glued a tape measure around the edges and then glued everything I could find that was sewing related on it. I just need to age it a little but time will probably take care of that. I think I have covered every bit of wall space available. This blog party was exactly the incentive I needed as before I could barely walk through it as every catch all was put in there until a later date, well finally that has arrived. Enjoy your visit to my little creative world, though not what I would consider magazine worthy I love it anyway as I put it together with bits and pieces of the past and present and and it reflects a bit of me. I hope everyone has had as much fun as I have in preparing for this party. Blessings to all of you and Many Blessings to Karen and a big Thank You for putting this most fun event. Happy Blogging!  XOXO

There you have it My Sewing Room!

Trouble reopening envelopes?  Have you ever sealed an envelope and then realized that you forgot to enclose something? I sure have and found this handy tip somewhere long ago and thought I would share it today. Place your sealed envelope in the freezer for awhile and then remove it, Whoo-hoo, it opens easily!

FUN FRIDAYS Better Late Than Never!

Congratulations to my oldest and first born Grandchild!! I'm so very proud of her and  all her achievements and hard work. She is becoming a fine young woman and not quite 14 years old yet. All her hard work will certainly pay off in the future though she may not yet realize it. This is her final year of Junior High School and so far she has received the Silver Award in Girl Scouts and now has received "The Presidents Education Award" for Outstanding Academic Excellence for the Year 2010. Only one award per school is given out and it requires a minimum of a 3.75 grade point average. Brooke, Grandma is very proud of you and loves you very much, you are doing a great job! Keep up the fine work, you never have let me down and I love watching you grow and bloom!    XOXO  Grandma!
